Salford City Council requested an innovative solution to their key worker housing shortage.
A Council car park site has been made available and Essentia Living has submitted a design for 72 apartments, being a mix of one and 2 bed units. The delivery time is estimated at 6 months and the units have been designed to be relocatable at a later date, should the Council decide to sell the site, which sits in the revitalised area of the Salford Docks.
The design is fully compliant to UK building standards and is to be self-installed by Essentia Living. Salford and Greater Manchester is being used as a ‘testing ground’ for solutions to UK’s overall housing supply problem. Manchester has a current shortfall of 200,000 accommodation units and London requires 850,000 new apartments / houses to satisfy the existing deficit.
